How about a a stronger contact lens that is harder to
    tear or scratch?

Do you want more value for your money when it
   comes to your contact lenses?

If you have answered yes to any of the above questions then gas permeable contact lenses
are definitely the solution to your vision problems.

Gas permeable contact lenses also sometimes called GP, Oxygen Permeables or Rigid Gas Permeables (RGPs) are very different from hard contact lenses and you shouldn't confuse the two.

Hard contact lenses are made from a hard plastic polymer material polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA Contacts)
and does not allow oxygen to pass to the eye. These lenses are not as common and have mostly been replaced by the RPGs.

Advantages of Gas Permeable Contact Lenses

Here are some of the advantages RGPs:

RGPs are made from special polymers that allow more oxygen to reach the
eye helping your eyes to breathe, resulting in healthier eyes.

When it comes to visual acuity, RGPs are superior to other contact lenses.
They retain their shape better which means your eyes don't have to refocus
as often, which makes them especially useful in bifocal contacts.

Want retain more moisture and reduce
dry eyes? Gas permeable contacts
do not require water to maintain their shape, therefore no moisture is
    required from your eyes.

Being difficult to tear or scratch beacuse of the special polymers RGPs are
made of, they provide better value for your money and last longer.

With RGPs you do not get as much protein build up/deposits which mean
    healthier and comfortable eyes.
