Toric Contact Lenses
Before we get into what Toric Contact Lenses are, it might be easier to start with what they do. Toric Contact Lenses (a special type of bifocal contact lens) are used to correct an eye condition called astigmatism.
Astigmatism is an optical malfunction caused by a misshaping of either the cornea or the optic lens (lenticular astigmatism). A normal cornea has a round in shape like a ball. In an astigmatic, the shape is different, more like a rugby ball or football.
